FoodCharm ate Kueh Teow with Deep Fried Pork
A popular breakfast's choice in Sandakan.
Why is it popular?
=> In general, the best "Kueh Teow" in Sandakan - The "Kueh Teow" King. However, its texture is different from Ipoh's Kueh Teow.
=> It is very popular among the locals in Sandakan, especially in its old location - the old Sandakan Central Market. Most probably is one of the popular stalls among our parents that are born in 1940s & 1950s, which couples like to have this simple and tasty breakfast together.
The stall is located at Sandakan Central Market, 2nd floor (top floor), only operating for breakfast till 12 noon. A visible signage showed when entering (2nd floor)from the staircase, "Since 1940, The Original Homemade Kueh Teow with Deep-Fried Pork".
The Kueh Teow ("chinese fettuccine" or flat rice noodle) is served in soup and non-soup with deep-fried pork on top and garnished with some spring/fried onion. The serving is medium and one may request to have a bigger portion of noodle / topping or both and pay for the additional cost. The price range for the noodle is from RM2.70.
The stall also served tasty beverage, "Teh-C" (milk tea with evaporated milk and sugar) and "Kopi-C" (local coffee with evaporated milk and sugar). The evaporated milk is sufficient that makes the drink tasty, "smooth" and rich in flavour. Both are also tasty served with ice, "Teh-C Ping" and "Kopi-C Ping".
Remarks: In general, every stall/coffee shop in Sandakan also serves "Teh-C" and "Kopi-C", however, not everyone makes good "Teh-C" and "Kopi-C". It is important to have a "good-pair" (food+drink) of breakfast to start the day.
